Scholarship will be a minimum of $1,000 per applicant per year and may be renewable for the full tenure of undergraduate study in eligible fields. 

1. Applicant MUST be a high school senior, high school graduate, or a college student attending orplanning to attend a one‐, two‐ or four‐year college or a certificate program.
2. Applicant MUST desire and PURSUE a career SPECIFIC to the residential construction field. A dual degree in related fields is acceptable. Student can be enrolled full or part time.
3. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

Completed applications must be submitted to the local Home Builders Association (HBA) in the area of the state where the applicant lives. 

The local HBA must be willing to match the scholarship funds awarded by REF.

1. First-time applicants
2. Returning applicants

Student must send their completed application to the local HBA and complete an in-person or phone interview by Monday, April 15. 

The local HBA is required to forward their recommendations to NYSBA REF by Tuesday, April 30.

Recipients will be notified if their application was approved by the end of May.

1. Application completed and signed (4 pages) 
2. Evaluation form from high school/ college advisor 
3. Evaluations from non‐related adults (2 separate forms) 
4. Official Transcript from high school or college 
5. Letter of Acceptance from College(s)
6. Signed photograph release – (first time applicants only) 
7. Head & shoulder photo
