As a member of the New York State Builders Association (NYSBA), William (Bill) Morehouse provided members with insurance coverage for more than thirty‐five years. Bill served as Executive Officer of the Home Builders Association of Mohawk Valley for 30 years. Bill’s generosity and ingenuity helped to initiate the NYSBA Research and Education Foundation.
As steward of an obsolete insurance trust, Bill approached NYSBA to discuss the possibility of utilizing the funds to seed an organization that would benefit the residential construction industry. As a result, the 501(c)(3) charitable organization, NYSBA Research and Education Foundation (REF), was formed.
As a tribute to Bill’s commitment to the industry, the Research & Education Foundation student scholarship program was named in his honor. The William Morehouse Scholarship recognizes Bill's relentless dedication to the industry and members, along with acknowledging his stewardship, generosity and commitment to the future leaders of the industry. excellence in research, and for the positive impact of our work on society.
